Currently, with over 500 international start-ups and scale-ups in the program, MTA has a stream-lined approach for SUV clients. The key elements of our approach are:
- Third party screening and transparency – External reviews of applications provide transparency and gold standard due diligence.
- One-on-one business advisory and activity tracking – We record your progress as an audit trail to track important milestones on your journey to launch your business in Canada.
- Network and entrepreneurial environment – Work alongside other founders and gain access to networking events across Manitoba and Canada that connect you with key players and industry leaders.

HOW CAN I QUALIFY FOR THE START-UP VISA PROGRAM?
Before starting your application with Manitoba Technology Accelerator, please carefully review the government qualifications to ensure that you are eligible to apply for this program.
To qualify for the Start-up Visa Program, you must meet all eligibility and admissibility requirements to enter Canada.
You can apply for the Start-up Visa Program as an individual or as part of a group of up to 5 owners.
To be considered a qualifying business, it should:
- Be innovative
- Create jobs for Canadians
- Be able to compete on a global scale
OUR CAPABILITIES
THIRD PARTY SCREENING AND TRANSPARENCY
We use a third-party screening committee made up of volunteers from Manitoba’s business community, including politicians and government officials. The committee reviews all applications and makes recommendations for MTA to either accept the client or provide suggestions for improving the application.
If approved, MTA will contact the owners (up to 5, as required by the Canadian program) to share the good news and begin the onboarding process.
ONE-ON-ONE BUSINESS ADVISORY
As a client, you will receive personalized 1:1 business advisory services from our top advisors, who are assigned based on the alignment of their industry experience and skills.
You will also benefit from learning Canadian business practices and progressing their business on MTA’s Commercialization Pathway. After 18 months, you will receive a graduation package with a certificate and auditable progress reports.
