We are now thinking about expanding the growth of our clients to international markets. We have tested a “joint venture model” in China and the model seems to work well. The joint venture model aligns the financial interests of a local VC with the Canadian start-up which assigns market rights for the technology into the international market / geography where the VC is. The Canadian start-up has some ownership of the new internal company, as does the VC, which is investing. This model seems to hold potential for scaling up companies internationally and securing capital to fuel that growth.
